  • The extent of burnt areas due to the Bayindeen-Rocky Road fire reached 21,379 ha in south-western Victoria State as recorded by the Forest Fire Management Victoria.
  • According to media reports, about 30,000 people have been urged to evacuate in the zone between Ballarat and Ararat Cities, including the Towns of Amphitheatre, Beaufort, Clunes, Elmhurst, Lexton, Glenbrae and Learmonth. Hundreds of schools are closed on 27 and 28 February. Two relief centres have been set up in Ararat and Maryborough for people planning to leave. The fire is not yet under control, and 102 vehicles have been mobilised to fight the fire.
  • The Bureau of Meteorology of Australia has issued a Fire Weather Warning for the Regions of Mallee, Wimmera, Northern Country, North Central, South West and Central.
  • For the next 24 hours, according to the JRC Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS), the fire danger forecast is from high to very extreme over the interested area.
