Tropical Cyclone Vongfong, Philippines, May 2020Tropical Cyclone Vongfong (named Ambo in the Philippines) made its first landfall in San Policarpo, Eastern Samar Province, Eastern Visayas region, Philippines, on 14 May. Severe wind damage was reported in the provinces of Samar, Northern Samar and Eastern Samar, 14 to 15 May. Two people were reported missing and 2 injured as a result of wind damage. Authorities had ordered the pre-emptive evacuation of around 13,000 people in the region. Vongfong then made landfall in Bicol Region, where more than 300,000 people sought refuge in 2,332 evacuation shelters, according to a police report. As of 15 May, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Vongfong had weakened to a severe tropical storm (STS). However, the weather bureau warned of heavy rainfall and flooding in Quezon as Vongfong made landfall over San Andres, Quezon on Friday.Thu 14 May 2020FloodList provided by Copernicus GLOFAS
