  • The situation in São Paulo State is worsening following heavy rainfall and consequent floods and landslides that are affecting the country over the past few days.
  • According to the Civil Protection of São Paulo State, 46 people have died (45 in São Sebastião and one in Ubatuba), 26 have been injured (including seven seriously injured) and more than 2,400 people are still displaced.
  • Search and rescue emergencies are ongoing across the most affected areas. Local authorities are restoring water supply over parts of coastal areas of northern São Paulo State.
  • For the next 24 hours, moderate to heavy rain with isolated thunderstorms is forecast over the affected State. Very high hydrogeological risk is still in effect across the north-eastern coastal areas of São Paulo State.

  • The death toll reached 48 people (47 in São Sebastião and one in Ubatuba), following heavy rain, floods and landslides that have been occurring across São Paulo State (particularly the northern coastal areas) since 18-19 February.
  • According to the Civil Protection of São Paulo State, 25 people have been injured while more than 3,500 people have been displaced.
  • On 23-24 February, moderate to heavy rain with isolated thunderstorms is forecast over the affected State. Very high hydrogeological risk is issued across the north-eastern coastal areas of São Paulo State including the municipalities of São Sebastião and Ubatuba.

  • The number of casualties has increased following heavy rain, floods and landslides that occurred in São Paulo State (particularly the northern coastal areas) over the past week.
  • According to media reports, 65 people have died (64 in São Sebastião and one in Ubatuba) two are still missing and more than 4,000 have been evacuated.
  • For the next 24 hours, moderate rain with isolated thunderstorms is forecast in the affected State. High hydrogeological risk is in effect across the north-eastern coastal areas of São Paulo State.
